Uni
Industrial Design, Physical Computing, Interaction Design
Most toasters are large and bulbous with two toast slots - a waste of space for those living alone with little counterspace and in need a quick toast in the morning. Uni is a single slice toaster with a small footprint both physically and mentally.
The Design
a toaster designed for minimizing visual noise
Designed for the single user, Uni is a slim toaster that can be tucked away in a corner until needed. The heat dial is also hidden until needed – a touchpoint rarely adjusted when alone

Why
Appliances only do one job each and take up a lot of space, causing a lot of unnecessary clutter, detrimental to someone living alone in a small apartment.

Image Board
a compact sublte form that can be slotted away when not needed

Sketches
exploring different toaster interactions

Interaction Model
3D printed and tested out the interaction

Previous Iterations
